The Bissell House: "From Carpet Sweepers to Bed & Breakfast Inn" Pasadena Hotel Tip by keida84

This lovely victorian mansion was built in 1887 and sits at the south end of what is known as "Millionaire's Row."

Although she did not build the house, Anna Bissell McCay, daughter of Melville Bissell inventor of the carpet sweeper lived in the house from 1903 to the 1950's. This is who the house is named for.

We stayed in the "Morning Glory" room done in shades of blue and cream. Fresh flowers from the rose garden were on the tables. Morningtime is my favorite time of the day, with the sunlight streaming through the windows on an early summer's morning revealed the apt name for this room.

I give the Bissell House a high recommendation and look forward to returning one day.

Unique Qualities: A most delicious breakfast was served downstairs in the Bissell House dining room; an elegant table laden with china, crystal and candles.

An afternoon "tea" with chocolate cake that my husband gorged himself on was presented in the living room. The house has a welcome feel to it, what I mean is I felt comfortable in all the common areas; conversing with other guests and reading a book from the Bissell House library.

Since it was summertime, the pool was inviting as well as refreshing, and the robes provided made going up and down the stairs in your bathing suit comfortable.

I ended up falling in love with the bathrobes and searched the internet until I found a vendor with a reasonable price. I could have purchased it at the Bissell House but I did not want the logo on my bathrobe.
