"Museo Borghese" Galleria Borghese - Museum Tip by Julius_Caesar

Galleria Borghese - Museum, Rome: 19 reviews and 42 photos

The villa and park were laid out by Cardinal Scipione Borghese, favorite nephew of Paul V, who had the house designed for pleasure and entertainment. The cardinal was also an extravagant patron of the arts and he commissioned sculptures from the young Bernini which now rank among his most famous works. Today the villa houses the superb private Borghese collection of sculptures and paintings in the Museo and Galleria Borghese. The star sight is Bernini?s Apollo and Daphne.
