To see a City Opera performance is a wonderful way to get the flavor of NY opera but if you can see an opera at "the Met" , it is truly grand...elegant...regal....the red velvet covered steps pictured here are framed by 2 huge Chagall murals which can be seen from outside if you don't have a ticket & in my photo you can see one of my favorite views of of the Austrian crystal chandeliers that light the entire opera house and are lifted over the tiers of the theatre just as the show is to begin.
