"Sea Lake - Time Stood Still (The Murray)" Great Ocean Road Tip by leffe3

Great Ocean Road, State of Victoria: 75 reviews and 177 photos

Dotted throughout Victoria (and Australia in general) are any number of small country towns where time seems to have stood still, leaving the town almost firmly still in the 1950s. Driving round the countryside (especially away from Melbourne) and you can come across such towns as Sea Lake. Strangely named considering its about 600kms from the ocean, its little more than a main street with a hotel/bar, milk bar, a few practical shops and a few houses. The name comes from the fact that a few miles to the north is Lake Tyrell, an enormous salt water lake.

Directions: South-eastern coast of Australia between the Victorian cities of Torquay and Warrnambool
