"Homeland Security of Another Era" Old Town Tip by tpal
Old Town, Warsaw: 138 reviews and 305 photos
This is one of my favorite photographs for a couple of reasons. Primarily because of the opportunity to examine up close the construction of the remaining wall fortifications that surround Old Town. I am not sure how much of the wall was standing before World War II but there seemed to be a conscious decision to end the reconstruction here. What I really like is the exposure of the different building materials as wall steps back, starting with the rubble stone base then followed by several decreasing sized courses of brick.
Also interesting to me is the Kwiaty or flower shop tucked neatly behind the old wall. It seemed very natural in it's position but still oddly positioned in a location usually reserved for public access or zoning set-backs.
