When taking a taxi in Cancun make sure you settle on the price BEFORE you get into the cab. Taxis are unregulated and if you don't discuss the destination and fare before you accept the ride you may be in for a lot more than you bargained for... They can charge you exorbitant amounts of money to take you on a short ride if you don't settle on the price prior to getting in the cab.
