"WHERE ONCE THE HIGH MOSQUE STOOD....." Cathedral Tip by eden_teuling
Cathedral, Sevilla: 145 reviews and 297 photos
is now the famous CATEDRAL.
The Mosque was demolished in the 15th Century and this huge, gigantic catedral is there now: a miracle.
It contains FIVE naves in GOTHIC STYLE with a large transept, site of the Main Chapel, a construction that boasts a most MAGNIFICENT ALTARPIECE (it is really unbelievably glorious.) behind a Plateresque Grill which making photos of the altar piece impossible: look at it and you will never forget.
The Catedral was designed by Alonso Martinez, Simon de Colonia and Juan Gil de Ontanon.
The enormous job was finished in 1506.
Very impressive here are the Virgen de los Reyer, the city's patron saint and the sepulchre of Christopher Columbus and.... there is a cathedral museum WITH A VERY RICH COLLECTION OF INTERESTING, BREATHTAKING, SURPRISING ITEMS.
