Delfina: "My favorite" Top 5 Page for this destination Delfina Tip by davequ
Delfina, San Francisco: 4 reviews and 10 photos
Speaking strictly as a tourist, I suppose there may be probably better places to eat in the city, but this is my favorite and always my first choice.
And I think you can tell a really good restaurant by watching the rhythm & performance of the line cooks.
Instead of a table, sit and have dinner at the bar some busy Friday or Saturday night and watch the line kick ass.
(Delfina feels like an ex-lover that has mercy & invites you over when you're lonely.)
Favorite Dish: I recommend (when available):
- a bellini;
- grilled calamari with the white bean salad;
- a glass of Miner pinot noir;
- roasted fennel quail with polenta and a side of spinach;
- profiteroles & coffee
or if you finish early (before 8pm) & it is open, skip dessert and have a croissant or pastry from Tartine on 18th and Guerrero
Here is a great little piece / movie about Tartine for your dessert.
I just thought of something.
It actually IS possible to have a less-than-amazing dinner @ Delfina. HOW?
Cop to the steak frites or the roast chicken.
Neither is "bad" but imo neither shows off what Delfina does best.
Go for something more "exotic" like quail, lamb, pork belly with sepia, fish, etc. for Secondi.
