Lake Jindabyne on the way to Thredbo
by martin_nl

If in summertime you've made it as far as Lake Jindabyne and have already been outside you will probably have noticed that there are loads and loads of flies! Make sure to get a fly net to put over you head in Jindabyne. Trust me it will be worth you money. Jindabyne is probably the last town with normal shops so don't leave without one.

Lake Jindabyne is a created lake. This all has to do with the Snowy Mountains hydro-electric scheme. Right next to the lake you will find the town of Jindabyne, however the first town of Jindabyne is now in the lake! It is possible to book a to scuba diving in the lake and visit the old town.

I thought the lake was very beautiful. Everywhere in the lake you can find little islands. If you are driving yourself and going to the town of Thredbo make sure to stop a couple of times along the way, especially when you're a bit higher up, to take some pics.

Directions: From Canberra take the Monaro Hwy to Cooma and hang a right towards Jindabyne.
