"Gaba-Gaba House" Sorong Off The Beaten Path Tip by RoyJava
Sorong Off The Beaten Path: 13 reviews and 13 photos
Maybe you've never heard of it, in the Moluccas and New Guinea the houses were decorated with gaba-gaba. That is the local word for threaded coconut-leaves used for roofing and house-walls. We thought all these houses had been disappeared.
So we got very surprised there still are some houses well preserved in Sorong with gaba-gaba house-walls. Even not that far of our own house (made of stone). And for now a restaurant, named "Fiesta".
Alas! ... the cook wasn't home!
Last news about Fiesta ... it has changed into a real disco to spend the night.
