"Buckhead" Buckhead Tip by goingsolo

Buckhead, Atlanta: 22 reviews and 5 photos

The Buckhead district is located about 10 miles north of downtown. It is most known for its two major malls, its high priced hotels and high end restaurants.

While it is certainly true that you can drop some bucks in Buckhead, there is a range of choices when it comes to nightlife. There are fancy restaurants such as The Palm Steakhouse and the Ritz Carlton dining room and trendy clubs and bars, but there are also local laid back bars where the drinks are cheap and the locals are friendly.

Here's a few suggestions:

Tavern at Phipps The Tavern is a popular Friday night hangout with reasonably priced food and drinks. Its located in Phipps Plaza Shopping Center.

East Andrews: East Andrews street has a collection of bars and clubs. This area is a little less friendly than the main drag, but its still a good time.

Fado's: Fado's is a great Irish Pub. I believe its a chain, as I've seen them in several cities. Casual, reasonably priced and popular, its a good bet on the weekends. Live bands play here often too.

I'll update this tip after my next visit and share some thoughts on the best and worst of Buckhead, as I see it.

Dress Code: Unless you're going to a fancy restaurant, jeans will work just fine anywhere.

Directions: To reach the Buckhead District from downtown, take hwy 85 north to Ga 400 north. Exit at Lenox Road.
