Itīs a nice town in the Northeast (Spey Bay). From there you can start to some a Speyside tours, e.g. Lossiemouth with haven and museum, or Whisky trail, to Brodie or Cawdor, and many other trips.

Elgin is the capital of Moray Council Area, 40 ml east from Inverness. Elgin is famous for Spynie Palace (see there) and the Cathedral (13th century), destroyed by Alexander Stewart and later by Cromwellīs armee.

Elgin Cathedral in the middle of the town Elgin was built in 1224. At first at a chapter house and at the end of 13th century it reached it's full size.
The towers at the entrance are still intact.
There is also a Pict stone with several symbols inside the walls of the cathedral.
Its historical cemetery is very interesting!

And donīt forget to visit Gordon & McPhail in the South Street!
