"See the Globe Theatre!" Theatres Tip by J.I.M
Theatres, London: 83 reviews and 92 photos
The Globe Theatre is where several of William Shakespeare's plays were originally performed. It was originally built around 1598, but burnt down in 1613 after a cannon went off during a performance of a play (a much more violent and action-packed play by the sounds of it!). The new Globe Theatre opened in 1997 and is a remake of the original. Plays are put on during the summer, and during the winter you can go inside for a guided tour.
Directions: On the south bank, not far from the Tate Modern building.
