Kadan is a beautiful, small town, between Karlovy Vary and Teplice.
Somehow this lovely town does not seem to belong to the landscape around it, that mostly looks like on the moon because of surface mining at most places.
The townsquare of Kadan / Kaaden is beautifully surrounded by gothic, renaissance and baroque houses, most of them were recently restored and look simply great.
There once was a double townwall with several gates. This townwall may be seen still at many places.
In 1259 Kadan became " royal town " and in 1367 and 1374 Emperor Charles IV spent several weeks in Kadan ...
...For that reason there is an annual festivity, an " Emperor festivty / Kaiserfest
You may get to Kadan by train or take road # 13 / E 442 from Teplice to Karlovy Vary / Karlsbad.
