" The Statue of Abraham Lincoln" Lincoln Memorial Tip by gosiaPL
Lincoln Memorial, Washington D.C.: 149 reviews and 301 photos
You haven't seen the Lincoln Memorial if you didn't climb those stairs to see Abraham's statue inside... This 19-feet-high monumental figure of Lincoln in his armchair, overlooking the Washington Monument and the Capitol in the distance, makes you think of America's past and present... makes you wonder what Old Ab would possibly think today...
The inscription behind the statue reads:
as in the hearts of the people
for whom he saved the Union
the memory of Abraham Lincoln
is enshrined forever
Take some time there and, if you're interested in America's history and Lincoln's message, read his Second Inaugural Address and the Gettysburg Address which are inscribed on the walls inside.
