Pardubice / Pardubitz is a town of 93000 inhabitants , built by the Pernstein-family in the 16th century at the confluence of the rivers Labe / Elbe and Chrudimka - about halfway between Hradec Kralove and Chrudim.
They built a great renaissance town with plenty of similarities to the architecture of Italy.Great and unique facades are found all over the old part of town, but especially on the town-square, called Pernstynovo namest.
Take a closer look for the great baroque stucco-ornaments and the big variety of facades.
The townhall of Pardubice / Pardubitz was built from 1892 - 1894 and decorated with sgraffiti by Mikolas Ales.
The townhall was recently restored, like most other buildings on the townsquare and looks really great today !
Dom U Jonase - on the townsquare opposite of the Green Gate is another great excample of a unique facade - see more pics on my link below !
When walking through Pardubice, you should go as well to " Miru " the street leading directely to the Green Gate.
About 300 meters before you get to the gate, you will see 2 great Art Nouveau-buildings on the left and on the right, before you go back to the main square is the great Art-Nouveau-theatre.

You may get to Pardubice by train or take the road # 37 from Hradec Kralove to Chrudim or road #2 from Kutna Hora.
