Cuba Libre: "A taste of Old Havana" Top 5 Page for this destination Cuba Libre Tip by acemj

Cuba Libre, Philadelphia: 6 reviews and 5 photos

Cuba Libre attempts to recreate the Old Havana of the 1940s right in the heart of Old City, Philadelphia. The problem is that if you visit here on a Friday or Saturday night, you'll be surrounded by people who don't look anything like the sharp-dressed Cubans of the 1940s. I'm just not a big fan of the cheeseballs who frequent Old City on the weekends these days. You'll also have to fight for a space around the bar.

My recommendation would be to come here on a weeknight or even just for lunch. It is at these times that you will actually be able to appreciate the interesting design of the interior and perhaps, just for a minute, be transported to Havana.

Favorite Dish: It's one of the few places in the city where you can get a good mojito. The rum selection is great and if you like Cuban coffee, this is the place for you.

As for the food, if you like sweet hints of fruit in just about everything, then you'll enjoy their menu. Try the Sun Tanned Salmon which is served with rum, honey and mango . . . mmmmmm.
