The old and new parlament building of Germany is called the Reichstag. It's located in the neighbourhood of Brandenburg Gate in Tiergarten.

It has been redesigned by famous architect Sir Norman Foster before the German government moved here from Bonn. Now it is a great mixture of old and modern style. It's possible to go into the dome but there's long queues most of the time (I only waited for 20 minutes though when I was there around 7 pm.... maybe that's the trick?)

I also visited the Reichstag before renovation in 1989. We were on a school trip and the tour through it rather bored us because the building wasn't very exciting back then. The only fact that entertained us was that there apparently were tunnels from here under the wall connecting the Reichstag building with the East. I still don't know whether the guide has only told us this fact to keep us awake though....
