The new cathedral dedicated to Saint Nicholas is built on same spot where a smaller church was in XVI century. In 1758 Metropolitan Nenadovic decide to pull down small church and to build new one at same spot. The foundation stone was put down in May 1758 and with help of folks and monasteries church was finished in four years.

The cathedral is built in baroque style. On the front facade two big belfries are emphasized and one is in between. Stained glass windows are a work of German craftsmen. Above choral apse is a big stained glass window with motif of St. Nicholas. Iconostasis is work of Kracun and Orfelin famous painters of that time.

On the lower part of iconostasis, on the right side you can see an icon of Madonna with Christ, made in 14th century by unknown Russian artists.

In the crypt are buried almost all metropolitans from Sremski Karlovci.
