Yonghegong : translated : Palace of the Eternal Harmony.

It was built in 1694 as a palace for the 4th son of the Chinese Emperor. And it is kind of a tradition that a palace where once a prince lived was changed afterwards into a temple.

In 1744 it changed into a Lama temple.

Of course you can not see any pictures of his Holiness the Dalai Lama here in this Tibetan Lama temple, as he is persona non grata for the Chinese government.

Address: Yonghegong Daije 12
Directions: Located on the north end of the city center, easily accessible from the metro line.
