"Pre-Incan Pyramid in the Midst of Modernity" Lima Off The Beaten Path Tip by cruisingbug

Lima Off The Beaten Path: 45 reviews and 50 photos

  Huallamarca, San Isidro, Lima, Peru
by cruisingbug

The Huallamarca pyramid sits smack in the middle of the more affluent San Isidro residential area of Lima. Our first glimpse of it was at night, when it's most striking - spotlights illuminate the stonework, which is done in an adobe style. The pyramid is surrounded by a chain-link fence for protection.

There is a small museum on-site - not really worth the 5 soles. Inside are some mummy bundles (mummies still intact) and artifacts found at the site. Excavations are ongoing.

othercontact: between Salamanca and Rosario
