"Erectheion" Acropolis - Erechtheion-Caryatids Tip by AsterixSg

  Caraytids - Erictheon

To the north of the Parthenon lies the Erectheion. It was built in 421 BC and used to be the dwelling of Erectheos. To the south of the Erectheion is the Porch of the Caraytids. 5 of the Kores statues (which kind of hold the roof on their heads) are in the Acropolis museum and a sixth is in the British Museum. What you see in the Erectheion now are plaster casts.

The original statues are found in the Acropolis Museum.
