The Mekong Delta is the Vietnam that most people dream about. Lusciously green with water in all directions, people getting from one place to another in small boats and wearing the traditional conical hats, the Delta does not disappoint. It is a sizeable area that most do not give enough time to fully explore and most that I met were sorry they didn’t. It is a difficult place to explore on your own and most do one day tours from Saigon much to their later dismay. We opted for a three day tour that brought us from Saigon to Phnom Penh in Cambodia and we were glad we did as it was one of our most relaxing and enjoyable times in Vietnam.
