"Americans and Germans Celebrate Together" Grafenwöhr Local Custom Tip by chelb

Grafenwöhr Local Customs: 1 reviews and 0 photos

Once a year the U. S. Army soldiers and local Germans get together in August for the Deutsch-Amerikanisches Volksfest (German-American Folk Fest). It is in Camp Tunisia which is a small area of the Army base in Grafenwohr. I went from the 5th to the 7th of August of 1994 as an American soldier. It was a small, county fair type affair that was nice with food booths, great German beer, and German music along with some boxing matches and other activities being held. It was a nice event and some small souveniers could be purchased. Grafenwohr is in Bavaria near the Czeck border.
