I am going to break this tip down into the pros and cons of staying in this hostel. I stayed there for THREE WEEKS in January 2004 while apartment-hunting.

PROS

Cheap at EUR 14 per night
Light breakfast included
Clean and bright
Warm
Friendly, helpful staff
Laundry facilities for about EUR 7 per load
Dinner served for EUR 9

CONS

No elevator and a spiral staircase
NOT located in city center - located on top of a twisty hill about twenty minutes by foot to city center (and across a river)
Only open 7.00 - 11.30 and 15.30 - 22.30
Hot water only during open hours
Pay several days in advance or they will "lose" your reservation

You must be a member of Hostelling International to stay here.

Directions: Across the river, take Bus 52 past Crimea (get off after the obelisk) and start climbing that hill!
