Kennedy Space Center is located about 45 minutes east of Orlando near Cape Canaveral. The Space Center is the site of numerous space shuttle launches. If you're lucky enough to visit the area when a launch is scheduled, definitely book tickets to watch from the launch viewing site.

Since launches are so rare, this may not happen. But you can still tour the facilities and watch films on astronauts constructing the space station.

Watching a shuttle launch is a unique experience. There are few sights that compare to watching the shuttle soar through the air, trailing a thick cloud of white smoke and then disappear into the atmosphere. I'd highly recommend this activity to anyone fortunate enough to be in the area on the day of a launch.
