"Don't miss the National Gallery" The National Gallery Tip by caminoreal

The National Gallery, London: 132 reviews and 183 photos

If you have the slightest appreciation for art or history, a visit to the National Gallery in London is a must. It's wonderful, and I still can't believe it's FREE!
The National Portrait Gallery is nice, but viewing portraits -- even great portraits of famous people -- gets boring after a while.
But in the nearby National Gallery -- just a short walk from several central London tube stations and right on Trafalgar Square -- there are world-renowned paintings by artist from every European country and culture and from just about every period in history.
Wanna see a Rembrandt? A Van Gogh? A Botticelli? A Renoir? They're not just English painters here.
I never get enough of the National Gallery. Whenever I visit London I spend most of a day walking around or sitting on the benches in the various galleries. Then, if I can spare a second day, I'll go back again.
London has many world-class museums, but the National Gallery is a world treasure.
