All of George Washington's meals were cooked in this large fireplace on my picture. Only bread was baked in seperate oven. It was interesting to see what equipment they used to bake, roast, broil, fry and stew at the end of 18th century. All pots in the fireplace were black and made of iron.

The favourite meal of Wahington's family was the Great Cake served during the Christmas holidays and for other special occasions as well. Another one was the hoe cakes served for breakfast.
