Via Garibaldi - starting point for the climb
by levente_

If one explores and explores the streets of Genoa, it can easily forget that there are splendid views of the entire harbour from the hilltops of the town.

One low-tech way to reach these is via climbing up on beautiful side-streets that start from Via Garibaldi. Just watch out for signs (some of them are hand-written believe it or not... must have been an altruistic tourist) and prepare for a steep, but manageable climb. Don't rush it, plenty of gorgeous little colourful houses and streets to contemplate as you are ascending.

When you reach the top, all of Genoa and the harbour will be at your feet. And not just photographic opportunities are endless, but also worth taking time in any of the local cafes for a slow glass or cup of anything - the piazzas with cool shade and trees are beautiful.

Address: Righi - centre north
Directions: Funicolare zecca righi
