Land Sachsen Off The Beaten Path: 43 reviews and 118 photos
Moritzburg castle is about 15km north of Dresden.
The castle dates back to the year 1723 and it needed 13 years to be finished by the architects Zacharias Longuelune, Matthäus Daniel Pöppelmann and Jean de Bodt.
The castle was built for "August der Starke" (August the strong), who was not only king of Prussia, but also of Poland.
...and he was not only strong as a king, but also father of hundreds of children with his many mistresses...
Moritzburg was just a hunting-castle - ment to be able to accomodate hundreds of guests and servants of the king, when he intended to stay there for a short time.
The castle may be visited only by a guided tour !
NO photography during that tour through the castle !!
