"San Telmo : Orthodox Chruch" Russian Orthodox Church - Iglesia Ortodoxa Rusa Tip by ptitetoile

What a surprise was it to see just on the other side of the Lezama Park this wonderful blue building! I did not know there was a russian community in Buenos Aires!

The Iglesia de la Santísima Trinidad (Russian Orthodox Church) was inaugurated in 1904, designed by the Russian architect Michael Peobrazensky. The temple, XVII century Moscovite stile, has five outstanding turquoise cupules covered in zinc , each of which end in a metal cross looking east. Inside the church there are icons and altars brought from San Petesburg at the beginning of the XX century. The church is opened only during mass.
