Binz and Bergen have direct train services to many major German cities, including Frankfurt, Duesseldorf and Berlin. Being so remote it takes a long time to get there, and it is not cheap, so you might want to consider taking one of the night trains that also service the island, running from the Ruhrgebiet (Cologne, etc) and Munich. There are a number of train services around the island too, including the special Ostmecklenburgische Eisenbahngesellschaft (OME) trains. Most of the local services emanate from the regional capital of Bergen, and are often supplemented by bus services.
