"Mofleh?s house" Top 5 Page for this destination Local Life Tip by Djinn76

Local Life, Petra: 5 reviews and 10 photos

In the past, the Bedouins used to live in Petra and protect the site from the intruders. The last ones on site were the from the Bdul tribe.
In 1985 however, the government decided to move them from the touristic site to Umm Sayhoun, a small village made of concrete and located a bit further.
There is however one Bedouin left on site and this is Mofleh! This charming little house is located on the other side of the mountain sheltering the El-Habis museum.

From there you also have a wonderful viewpoint of even more valleys, siqs, wonderful landscape and yet more tombs. This is where you realize that the site of Petra has much more to offer than the major well-known buildings?
