"Bus not taxi!" Bus - Intercity Tip by twofishblu

Bus - Intercity, Costa Rica: 29 reviews and 15 photos

The normal bus, with everyone else, is definitely the cheapest way to get around. Most of the buses that go any distance are nice, Greyhound-style touring buses...not old rundown school buses. The old school buses run the shortest routes around the capital city-San Jose. You might consider taking motion sickness pills (if that's something you're prone to) for the loooong winding, sometimes hot mountain roads. I recommend trying to take the longest trips in the evening, when it's cooler.
