At the time this bridge was built it was the largest reinforced concrete arch in the Southern Hemisphere. It was constructed of reinforced concrete between 1908 and 1910. It was an early example of this type of design. The bridge spans Grafton Gully, just off Karangahape Road and Symonds Street.
