United States of America Restaurants: 341 reviews and 660 photos
There are Shoney's restaurants from Florida to New Mexico, up to Missouri, Virginia and West Virginia, Indianna (but not Illinois), Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin and Utah in fact 318 locations in 21 states. They started in West Virginia in 1947 with the Parkette drive in. The owner Al Shoenbaum purchased the Big Boy hamburger chain in 1951, and it became Shoney's Big Boy. I remember the Big Boy logo in Norfolk in the early 60's
Now they not only have a menu where breakfast is available all day, but also a buffet - breakfast (until 11), lunch (11 to 2) and dinner (5 pm to closing). New are the express lunch baskets.
Favorite Dish: We had a somewhat unsatisfactory dinner at Shoneys. We were tired and didn't feel like going through the buffet line. Bob asked for the All American Burger and said no to the cheese and they gave him a cheeseburger anyway. I had Bubba's BLT, which was OK. The meal was under $19 including tip.
The food is OK but nothing special IMHO
Price Comparison: less expensive than average
