LADisco (JinBiHuiHuang): "Bouncy dance floor, crazy costumes, Fun fun fun!" Hangzhou Nightlife Tip by hangzhoulover

Very strange but fun. As you walk into the Wahaha food center you'll see the "bouncers" dressed like ancient courtly Europeans. You take the elevator up to the 6th or 7th floor and you'll see lots of staff members in these funny costumes, and you'lll see a lavishly decorated entrance hall. It's a huge place and can be a bit of a maze to find your way to the bar and dance area if you take a wrong turn, but it's worth it. One floor has a jazz club and private karaoke rooms. The other floor has a typical dance joint with mediocre techno/hip hop music. I liked the dance joint, which has a very small dance floor. But that's okay, because you get to dance close to people, and the dance floor bounces!!! Drinks are expensive here, around 30 yuan for a beer. Smoking is allowed, but doesn't drift too much onto dance floor. Dancing crowd mostly in 20s, but you can find people in 30s and 40s in bar area. One warning, however, is this place is sketchy. The "maze" I referred to is filled with private rooms and lots of young women decked out hanging around. Officially I think they are KTV "hostesses," but I think it is pretty much a front for prostitution. Wed night is ladies night, so free for women. Other nights have an admission fee ranging I think from around 25-50 yuan depending on the night.
Dress Code: Not that I know of, but most people looked pretty nice.
