"Walk, Eat, Shop & Be Merry!" Philippines Things to Do Tip by krishnna

One can do a lot of things at Binondo. You can go shopping for gold at Ongpin, buy exotic fruits at the sidewalks, hopia from Eng Bee Tin, tea and kiamoy at a Chinese old-fashioned shop. You can even score a bronze or jade Buddha statuette, just ask the friendly refugee standing along the sidewalk peddling their interesting wares in Mandarin, it needs a bit of patience though, to finally close a deal.

I have only seen a few historical places inside like the Friendship Bridge, Buddhist temples with joss sticks burning forever, and the Binondo church, not because it's lacking, but because of insufficient time to do all your stuff at once. In our case, we spend two hours eating gastronomically satisfying dimsum and chinese delicacies in an authentic Chinese restaurant.

Since our pilgrimage to Binondo, a year ago, we've only tried one resto that keeps us coming back, the President Tea House. l loove their chicken feet, ha kao, sharks fin siomai, schezuan prawns, seafood hotpot and loads of other glorious food. Plus the complimentary green tea that clears your palate.

Binondo is an entirely different place, the language, the culture, it's as if your not in the Philippines but in some exotic destination full of Oriental charm and mystic.

Address: Binondo, Manila
