  Reichstag viewing deck
by kit_mc

A visit to the Reichstag is well worth the effort. Not only do you get a great view of the city, but you get to view the fantastic dome from the inside and if you're lucky get a view of the ministers in the debating chamber below.

The Reichstag viewing deck is open 8am to 10pm daily. Beware that the queues at the security check can be long. It is worth a wait though.

The Reichstag was gutted in a blaze that symbolised the beginning of the end of any sense of true democracy in Germany in 1933. It lay dormant until it re-opened with the Sir Norman Foster designed glass dome as the Parliament of a united Germany in 1999. A photographic outline history of the building is up in the viewing deck.
