"Anicent rock-cut path to the Monastery" Monastery - Al Deir Tip by Sambawalk

Monastery - Al Deir, Petra: 66 reviews and 120 photos

The climb to the Monastery takes about an hour and is best started in mid-afterrnoon when there is shade along the way and the Monastery is at its most photogenic.

The spectacular ancient rock-cut path of more than 800 steps is easy to follow, but steep and taxing at times). You can choose to hire donkey with a guide to take you up there for not more than JD3. Bargain hard. Enjoy the flight up.

Address: Wadi ad-Deir
Directions: 800+ steps lead up from the end of the main path through the site.
