  Old Cape Henry Lighthouse
by bugalugs

This lighthouse was built in 179. It is now owned and maintained by the Association for the Preservation of Virginia Antiquities (APVA) which was founded in 1889 to save Virginias historic sites. The lights were damaged by Confederate troops but later repaired by Union troops.
At the bottom of the lighthouse is a shop where you gain entrance to the lighthouse.
A fee for admission is charged. On the day we were there it was so hot and I could not be tempted to climb the winding staircase to the top.
