COMEMMORATIVE PLAQUE TO THE FIRST THANKSGIVING
by matcrazy1

Thanksgiving Day is an American holiday celebrated each year on the 4th Thursday of November. Thanksgiving Day in America is a time to offer thanks, of family gatherings and holiday meals. It's a time of turkeys, stuffing, and pumpkin pie, a time for Indian corn, holiday parades and giant balloons, a time of first Christmas shopping, family visits, horrible traffic jams, crowded airports and no vacancy in hotels as well.
It was celebrated for the first time in America in Charles City, at Berkeley Plantation in 1819.

Read the commemorative plaque put at the Berkeley mansion:
Instructions given by the proprietors of Berkeley hundred to captain John Woodleefe, first "captayne and governor" of Berkeley Hundred, Virginia, were as follows:

"Impr wee ordaine that the day of our ships arrival at the place assigned for plantation in the land of Virginia shall be yearly and perpetualy keept holy as a day of thanksgiving to admighty God."
