There are fantastic viewpoints from which to admire the hoodoos from a distance, but you should take at least a short walk down amongst them to appreciate these unusual and weird rock formations.

The hoodoos are made of sandstone that has been eroded by wind and rain. And, because Bryce Canyon is situated between 8000 and 9000 feet in elevation, ice and snow also contribute and continue the erosion process today.
