One of the lovliest birds in the Galapagos, in terms of sheer grace and beauty, both in the air and perched, must surely be the red-billed tropic bird.

These birds are basically white, but have dark gray or black detailing to their wing feathers. They have distinctive, long red beaks. Their long, streamer-like tail feathers flow along behind them as they swoop past the cliffs. These are plunge divers, so it is common to see them gliding over the water, sometimes far out to sea, in search of fish. They nest in small nooks in the rockface of the cliffs.
