Getting TO/AROUND: From what I understand, the bus system works pretty well getting you up and down the strip. However, I think it can get crowded. Strip workers also use the buses. And, of course, you are reliant on their schedules.

Getting TO/AROUND: The answer is, it depends. If you think that you are going to be staying on the strip at all times and mostly staying in the area of your resort, you probably won't need a car. The strip can get quite congested and if you don't know the back streets it could get obnoxious. On the other hand, I wouldn't do Vegas without a car. First of all, parking is free, unless you valet and then it's just a couple of bucks tip. The streets are laid out in a grid, so it's pretty easy to figure out. The major east/west streets are named after the legendary casinos starting with the Tropicana at the south end and ending with the Sahara at the North end. There are back streets to get you places faster, just ask any hotel worker the quickest way, they will probably have a shortcut. Also, even though everything looks close enough to walk to, it's not. The casinos are huge. We always joke that there should be a sign on the doors of the casinos before you exit that says, "objects might be further away than they appear." Also, if you want to leave the strip, not having a car is a problem. Public transport is sketchy and somewhat scary.l

Getting TO/AROUND: Even if you are just staying in your casino, you will be walking. These places are huge. Pretty shoes are great, but comfy shoes are heaven. Walking up and down the strip can be fun, but I wouldn't advise walking to downtown. Not only is it 3 more miles, but, it is not a safe area. Take a taxi if you must go downtown. Also, Las Vegas is not a town of walkers, so other than going up and down the strip, you really have to leave town to walk and see something interesting. Go to Red Rock or Mount Charleston.
