Small Place, Friendly People

Thomasville is a VERY small town in South Georgia. We're about 45 minutes from Tallahassee, Florida or Valdosta and about 3 1/2 hours to Atlanta. The big draws for this location are Pebble Hill and Coalson Plantations.

We are also known as the "City of Roses" and are home to the annual Rose Festival in April of every year. Victorian Christmas is a large draw character dress, a live nativity scene and food and craft vendors up and down our main street.

Lots of local and traditional southern cooking - one favorite lunch spot is The Scoop on Broad for sandwiches and ice cream. Henderson's on Smith Ave. (which turns into the more upscale Richard's at night) is another local favorite. Fallin's barbecue, Crawdaddy's and Seminole Wind round out the list. For a more upscale dining experience there is a restaurant at Coalson plantation and Liam's or FishBonz.

There are several beautiful local bed and breakfasts - haven't stayed in any of them but they are lovely.

If you're in town either the last week of May or the first week of December, the South Georgia Ballet does a beautiful job of presenting the Nutcracker and an original ballet for the spring performance (I should know, my daughter dances with them!) The Thomasville Cultural Center also offers a variety of painting exhibitions, classes, music shows and the Plantation Wildlife Festival every fall.
