"Our Home Under The Sun" Mahmutlar by colbro

In 2004 we decided to make our dream a reality and put the wheels in motion to have our villa built just outside the village. We visited the plot and immediately fell in love with the views of Alanya bay . The company we used took us to veiw the plot in the day time and in the evening when we realised the view even got better as we watched the sun go down into the bay. That same night we signed contracts and work commenced.
We were given the keys to our dream home on the 15th of May 2005. We have met a lot of our Turkish neighbours who have accepted us and since become very good friends when we visit.

Mahmutlar Centrum

We have had our villa now for 3 years and we can not believe how our village has changed in that time. When we first went to Mahmutlar most of the roads were made of sand and not many of them were illuminated,now we have proper roads with very attractive street lights. A lot of developement has occured over that time but carried out quite tastefully
Our village has all the shops we need and most charge Turkish prices not European prices. Every time we visit there seems to be flowers everywhere and there is never any litter to be seen anywhere which is wonderful.

On our last visit in September 2007 we could not believe our eyes, as since April that same year the local council had change the natural beach into a beautiful sandy beach which now has 4 beach bars stretched along the length of the beach. The bars as well as selling nice cold beers also sell snacks and the costs are very reasonable. Most evenings we stroll along the beach and then sit in one of the bars and watch the sun go down which is a view I will never get fed up with .

• Pros:Good weather all year round and nice people.
• Cons:Will be better when the Gazipassa Airport opens.
• In a nutshell:I can not wait for retirement so I can stay there.
