If you like I own a property in Mahmutlar and can never decide the best way of changing pounds into lira then I have found by transfering money into my turkish account works quite well . Check the commercial transfer rate with your bank as this is always higher than the general exchange rate. This may not be suitable for small amount as you will be charged bank charges for the transfer.
Another good way is try the Local businesses and ask them what rate they will offer you, this could and often is a better rate than you will get from the Exchange Offices in the town
