"Hello" Knocko's Profile
We live in what used to be a mining town called Mansfield in Nottinghamshire. Its close to Sherwood forest, basically middle England. Most of our fathers and grandfathers worked the mines, but in the 1980's - 90's most of them was closed.
Mansfield and its surrounding districts were an area of disorder during the miners strike in 1984-85, bought on by the two different unions. I was never a miner so ill leave it there. After a year in a factory in 1978 i hitchhiked it to cornwall and got work in Perranporth near Newquay. It opened my eyes to this beautifull world.
In 1979 i met my girlfriend Carolyn and we have been camping and traveling Great Britain ever since. In 1981 we were married and 1992 had four children, three girls and a boy. We didnt start goin abroad till 2001 for two reasons.
1) Children are expensive
2)You can spend a life time discovering Great Britain.
We've visited Torquay to Carlisle, Cardiff to Cambridge with our local football team, the mighty Mansfield town lol (the stags). And been to many a music festival, from Glastonbury in Somerset to the Wickerman in Dumfries Scotland. partied and saw the sun rise on the soltice at stonehenge a few times and walked the three peaks, Scafell pike (Cumbria). Mount Snowdon (Wales) and Ben Nevis (Scotland). Our nearest coastline is Mablethorpe in Linconshire. And we spend many a weekend camping amongst the many miles of sand dunes and sandy beaches taking our grandchildren who number five.
Our first trip abroad was Amsterdam visiting the Van Gogh museum and everything else you do in Amsterdam.
Then to Paris France, Eiffel tower, boat trip down the seine, Notre dam, disney land etc.
Our first package holiday was to Spain. estartit, where we visited Barcelona. It was here that we agreed that the world is a small place worth seeing. So we went on another package holiday to icmeler in Turkey. The wife Carolyn fell in love with the place so much, that she booked us back in the same year, . The package holiday is all very good but not what we wanted. So in April 2007 we got a flight to Istanbul with no accomodation booked to backpack through Turkey and Greece. So ill start these VT pages here.
We are both new to these computers and heard of this website from one of our daughters, and still finding our feet with this not so new technology lol, so it might take time to arrange these pages.

Hi Welcome to VT - enjoyed reading Your HP - look forward to reading about your travels. I'm from Mansfield area originally - some of my family are still there. Best Wishes, Sue
Hiya mate! Thanks for dropping by my homepage. Not much joy for either of our football clubs recently! Good luck to The Stags for the rest of the season - nice to see former Owl Matty Hamshaw scoring a few for you!
