Weeknight - US$200+ for a suite Weekend - US$300 for a suite
Unique Qualities: Decorated after a Greco-Roman theme, Roman guards greet you at the gates and large, Corinthian columns adorn almost every possible space! I would recommend getting a suite in the newly re-done wing. The rooms are HUGE!!!! Also, the bathrooms are enormous with a hot tub! The suite is absolutely fantastic! Caesar's Palace recently renovated their pool as well. The new pool is beautiful with fountains and little 'water-ways'! The service is impeccable! Caesar's Palace also has great shopping!

Okay, so the place looks really cheesy, but hey, why not? It's in a great location! The rooms are not bad - they are a decent size and I didn't have any complaints. Of course, this isn't Mandalay Bay....but, it's a standard room, no different than a standard room at the Hilton, for example. The whole hotel is themed to look like....well, Excalibur! Hence, the name. The entire outside is modeled after a castle and the entire shopping area is called "Sherwood Forest".
Unique Qualities: The nice thing about this hotel is that it's in a great location! There is a tram connecting Excalibur to Luxor and to Mandalay Bay. There is a bridge that takes you to New York New York as well. It's actually a great place to stay if you have kids because they have medieval jousting shows and other things that kids may like. Excalibur is also one of the cheapest places to stay on the Strip, especially during the weekdays.

As with many hotels along the Strip in Las Vegas, this is no different in the sense that it has a "theme" to it. The Luxor features an Egyptian theme with its colossal pyramid and Sphinx. The rooms were a decent size and to be perfectly honest, the rooms in the newer wings are actually nicer. The pool area is large and easy to find, unlike some of the mazes that are the other hotels. There are various restaurants to choose from inside the hotel like a 24hr cafe or one of the newer, upscale restaurants. Club Ra is the famous club that is in the hotel. If you are a guest, you can get into the VIP line. It's reasonably priced for a hotel on the Strip. Don't come looking for a Bellagio type of experience here, but it certainly isn't shabby either! Really no different than your standard Hilton or Marriott hotel room.
Unique Qualities: The elevators in the pyramid are pretty funky and if you ride in them, you will get to experience what it's like to be in an elevator that is tilted to accomodate the slope of the pyramid. The Blue Man Group (as of 2004) is still performing here and their show is great! Don't miss out on the opportunity to check it out. There is also a tram that can take you to Mandalay Bay or Excalibur - just make sure you read the signs correctly.

As the name suggests, Rio is an all suites hotel. The suites are HUGE! The rooms feature king or queen sized beds with a sitting area. The couches in the sitting area can pull out to accomodate even more people. The only biggest con about this hotel is that it is OFF the Strip on the other side of the freeway. It really isn't that far away if you don't mind sitting in a cab for a bit. If you're going with a big group of friends you can definitely fit many into these rooms. Not the most romantic of hotels, but it can be a lot fun, especially if you're a neophite to Vegas. Plus, this hotel has one of the BEST buffets in town! Their seafood buffet is terrific! All you can eat seafood of every sort for only about $40/person.
Unique Qualities: There is a large shopping area where the Club Rio is located. This is the "village" where they have Carnival parades throughout the day - don't forget to "earn" your beads at this festive hotel. The Rio also features the Voodoo Lounge at the top of the hotel. Please see my notes on that under nightlife.
